Aroma ABT-208S 4-Slice Stainless Steel Toaster Oven

Got this as a gift for Christmas, and my wife and I are about to go dig our 10-year old Krups one out of the garage. About the only thing this one has going for it is that it looks fairly nice. The things about our Krups that we really miss on this one:

* On the Krups, you set one dial for how dark you want the toast, and push down a lever to tell it to start toasting. On this one, you have to set the oven temp to "Toast" then use the timer dial to make it go. This means that you have to remember/guess where on the dial results in the kind of toast you like.

* On the Krups, you could easily tell where the temperature was set. On this one, it's almost impossible to tell one end of the temperature dial form the other (it's pure black on black), so you often end up getting 150 degrees when you wanted 450, or vice versa. This toaster looks nice and works well as an oven but as a toaster it is VERY slow. We replaced a cheap black and Decker we had for 15 years and the whole family complains about how slow it toasts. It takes 5 minutes to get light toast. We just timed it so this is not an exaggeration.

It's a very attractive toaster oven and toasts fairly evenly. The on ' off switches are a little hard to manipulate. You can set a timer up to 15 minutes or set it on "stay on" for longer durations.
