Black & Decker Convection Countertop Oven with 60-min Timer

I have a toaster for making toast, people have been using ovens to burn toast as far as i can remember. I bought it for several reasons: It's Black, has Convection and will bake a 12" pizza or Two, quickly. I've been wanting a convection oven since day one and Black&Decker didn't disappoint, it's a large counter-top oven and it works wonderful as an oven, just don't try and make toast with it or any other oven for that matter, you'll burn it every time..

Bought one of these and returned it (not from Amazon). We tried to replace our aging DeLonghi oven with this one, but found that the toast function was inadequate. Because the dial for timing toast has 60 minute resolution, getting the setting just right consistently to produce the "done-ness" of toast you want is pretty much impossible, especially if you consider that if the oven starts from warm that changes the setting you need. By comparison, the DeLonghi's dial didn't allow shutoff after 60 minutes - it used the full dial turn range for toast from light to dark - for consistent results.

So, high marks for construction quality, size (it can accommodate large items like an 8x8 pan, and the 12" pizza they advertise), and quietness (the convection is very quiet), but unusable as a toaster that can produce consistent results.

Do not buy this toaster oven (Model TO1216B) and seriously consider staying away from all Black & Decker toaster/convection ovens. The glass of this door exploded across our kitchen with such force that it broke the door and glass shards were found as much as 8-10 ft away. Thank goodness that no one was standing close by or they would have been injured.
We have since read reviews with similar complaints of the B & D ovens with exploding glass doors in the model TO1420B. Black & Decker is aware of this issue but doesn't seem to be addressing whatever the problem is.
For the safety of your family, stay away from this product!
