Product Description

The CTO9000 features Convection ovening taht circulates the air for faster, more even cooking, baking, and broiling.
Amazon.com Review

This countertop convection oven has room for roasting a chicken, broiling three steaks or a mess of burgers, toasting six slices of bread, or baking macaroni and cheese in a 3-quart casserole. Because it circulates hot air, the 1,500-watt oven cooks faster and more uniformly than a conventional oven. Baking and roasting temperatures adjust through a range of 200 to 450 degrees F, and another dial with three settings controls toast browning. A 90-minute timer automatically turns off the oven after a selected period. For easy cleaning, the interior is nonstick and a slide-out tray catches toast crumbs. The oven is housed in matte-finish white plastic and has a glass door with a matte-gray handle for contemporary styling. Accompanying the oven are a 9-by-12-inch aluminum baking pan with a broiling insert and a slide-out rack. The oven measures 19-3/4 inches wide, 10-1/2 inches high, and 14-1/4 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Summary: Great convection oven!! 2006-12-04
Comment: My real oven went out and I was forced to use this in the mean time till I bought a new oven. Everything came out great and I had no problems with the oven.

Summary: After several years, we're replacing it with the Krups FBC2-212 2006-02-17
Comment: My husband purchased the Black & Decker CTO9000 Dining-In Convection Oven/Broiler for me in Black when it first came out several years ago. Because of its sheer size, and the convenience of putting in different sizes of baking dishes, we tended to overlook the OBVIOUS - uneven toasting being the largest pain in the backside. Whether heating up frozen waffles or making toast, we usually opened up the oven mid-way to "flip" out waffles/toast to ensure evening browning. How silly was that! Keeping the unit clean was also a chore, though we lined the crumb tray with aluminum foil and replaced the foil often. We also could never get the glass front clean enough!

A family member recently gave us $$ to replace the oven - she couldn't stand how it always looked dirty, though we cleaned it often. By December 2005, both screws holding the door handle were stripped beyond repair, and we just couldn't bring ourselves to use Super Glue to extend the life of the unit any longer.

After SEVERAL weeks of exhaustive research and reading reviews on sites such as amazon.com and epinions.com, we just purchased the Krups FBC2-212. Yes, yes - it is almost twice the cost of the B&D model, but we're confident that our new Krups unit will serve our family at least twice as long as the B&D.

Last night, we baked our "last supper" in the B&D; a frozen chicken & cheese enchilada dinner, complete with Spanish rice. Following cooking directions to a T, our meal came out JUST RIGHT. It was delicious!

Farewell B&D... thanks for (most of) the cooking memories!

Summary: Nice alternative to using the oven 2003-12-12
Comment: I've had the Dining In for well over a year, and I've been really pleased with it. I like not having to heat up my regular oven when I'm cooking something small. The "toast" setting isn't totally even on both sides; the underside gets a little browner than the top. (Don't leave the oven temp set to "broil" when toasting; the lower element doesn't heat up at all that way.) I find the baking time to be fairly accurate -- better than my regular oven, actually. I can fit a disposable 9X13 pan, a glass 8X8 pan, and various small baking sheets in here -- one at a time, of course!

The only real problem happened a few weeks ago -- the screws attaching the handle to the door had become loose, and recently they came off totally. I can open and close the door using a hot pad, but have been unable to get the screws back in yet. I'll superglue them in when I do!

Overall, I've been very satisfied with this toaster oven.

Summary: A Piece of [junk] 2003-07-29
Comment: The only thing worse than a toaster oven that breaks after 3 months is a toaster oven that breaks the day after exchanging for a new one. In fact, the only way this shrapnel could be worse is if they painted it flourescent-green and plastered it violently with Smurf stickers. Do not buy this man! Just run away.

On a positive note, if you do have one and your "warranty" has run out, there are some alternative uses:

- Blunt weapon
- Dollhouse
- Cat jail
- Catbox protector (The racks are practically designed for clumping cat litter).
- Hamster coffin. (This is the only model reccomended for mass burials, as it is quite spacious and can accomodate double-digits).
- Refridgerator
- Step-ladder
- Noise-maker
- Dress it up as your favorite superhero and launch it down the street while reciting aloud well-known lines from that same superhero.

That's all. Nothing good can come of this. Take care and always read the reviews FIRST!!!!

Summary: Don't bother making toast with it 2002-12-15
Comment: This is the worst toaster oven we have ever owned. It cannot start again after making the first batch of toast due to a poorly designed toast start button. I suspect the start button is an electronic control which you have to depress just right or it refuses to start on the first batch. After you make the first batch you have to wait until the stupid thing cools down again in order to get the start button to work. Electronic start buttons - which appear on all their new models are not designed properly - the heat temperature is set too low, so even when you cool the toaster down for five minutes the start button still thinks you're trying to restart the last batch. Also the dark toaster setting is the minimum you have to set it at to get barely brown toast. Stay away from Black & Decker since their toasters share the same start button design/temperature toast control.
