Summary: Unsafe Toast Oven 2010-07-23
Comment: This product is not user friendly. It is hard to regulate the heating/toasting controls. Once a heating method has been chosen you can not undo the selection. Unplugging the unit stops the heat process but when plugged back in, heating picks up where it was stopped. Opening the Door does not stop the heat process. Toasting is hard to judge and burns easily. You can not put food in the toaster oven without standing right by it and be watchful. This product is not safe - bad choice.

Comment: I thought... because this was a Black & Decker, it was going to be good quality. Wrong!
It not only burns toast, it sets it on fire. The heating element actually began to break off (in the the form of flakes) and fall onto whatever I was toasting. It really isn't a bargain, you'll have to replace it within a year. If you can spend a few dollars more....pass this one up.

Comment: I have had this for a little over a year and have used it about once or twice a week since then. The heating pattern changes for no reason - one bagel comes out burnt, the other one barely warm. And now the heating element broke while toasting my son's breakfast! Had I not been looking closely, I wouldn't have seen the shards on his bagel. Save yourself some money and avoid a headache: don't buy this.

Comment: We had a Black & Decker toaster oven for years and it worked great, so when it bit the dust we went out and got a new one. What a disaster!
It might be useful if you want to toast marshmallows over your toast bonfire, but it is not a safe toaster for inside your house - and especially around kids!! Don't buy it!! We are throwing it out and buying a traditional toaster that automatically shuts off. We thought that the new toaster oven model was going to be an improvement, but as we said it almost burned our house down!!
