Summary: Don't waste your money 2010-02-24
Comment: Bought this toaster because I thought that it was attractive, had four slots, and I believed that Cuisinart was a reputable brand. Maybe it was, but apparently that is no longer the case. Like some other reviews, I found that the toast was not evenly browned. Worse, after a couple of months, the left side of the toaster no longer toasted both sides on the bread. Only the outside heating element worked in each slot. A few months later, on the other side, the exact same thing happened. It's in the trash now and I am shopping for a new toaster.

Comment: Having had other Cuisinart products and liking the quality of them, I bought the 4-slice toaster. Excellent toast right out of the box. From thin bread to thick bagels, it preformed flawlessly. Will continue to buy their products and what can I say about Amazon, they are the best.

Comment: This toaster was bought to replace a toaster oven. The unit has easy controls and good finish but the toast is much darker on one side than the other.

Comment: Returned to a slice toaster with this product after years with (multi) toaster ovens. The speed and effectiveness of this unit has me wondering why we stuck with the ovens long after the novelty of tuna melts wore off. No problems after 2 mos. of heavy use.
