Cuisinart TOB-155 Toaster Oven, Stainless and Black

Comment: We love our new toaster oven. It has been difficult to find a unit that toasts, broils, and bakes with equal success, but the Cuisinart TOB-155 is that product. The oven heats up quickly and evenly for baking, toast comes out perfectly brown on both sides without having to flip the bread over, and bagels top brown nicely. We haven't used the broil feature, yet, but I assume it works just as well as the other two functions.

The push button controls are easy to read and easy to use. My only suggestion for Cuisinart would be to include a small light inside the oven to make it easier to see the food during prep and for removal. Not a big deal, but would be a nice touch.

We look forward to using it every day and would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a moderately priced, multi-task, toaster/broiler/oven.

Comment: Decided we needed a toaster-oven after realizing we were using the large (energy consuming) built-in one just to heat a few rolls or other small tasks frequently. I read reviews on Consumer Reports and first bought the recommended Kenmore at about $90 on sale. It was huge, ugly, and worst of all the "bake" temperature was preset to 400 and could not be changed! Continued searching and found this mid-range Cuisinart model on Amazon and thought I'd give it a try. It's terrific in every respect. To toast two slices or less, make sure you put the bread in the middle of the rack and that the rack is in the correct position (of three possible). We have not used the broil feature, so can't comment on that, but bake and toast features are great.

The manual is clear and very helpful; the three-year warranty a real bonus. For its capacity it looks smaller and fits in nicely with cabinetry. If I could have everything I wanted (and it would not be practical at this price point) there would be an interior light. Overall, an excellent purchase.

Comment: We purchased the TOB 155 to replace an older Cuisinart (TTOB-30BW). We use our toaster oven on a regular basis. If the dish fits, we use it over our regular stove every time. The 30BW had some serious electrical defects, but when it worked, it worked very well. In the search for a replacement, we first purchased a Black & Decker. I cannot attest to how well the B&D worked because we repacked it 5 minutes after taking it out of the box. The crumb tray was loose and crooked; the door did not seem to close properly; and the entire unit (especially the broiler tray) just felt cheaply made. We then bought a Bella oven. This unit was an even bigger disappointment because it just did not cook. The top burner never went on when baking and the oven just didn't seem to get hot enough regardless of the setting. After the problems we had with the 30BW, I was convinced we would not go with another Cuisinart, but after looking at the reviews, it was the only brand that had consistently high ratings. And so far, we are not disappointed with the TOB 155. I am still working on the toaster setting (one experience I've had burned my bread) but in terms of baking and broiling, it's fantastic! The unit is very modern looking and the digital controls are very simple to use and understand. The oven is a great size -- it looks smaller than what it can actually hold.

I found some of the complaints about this model rather amusing. For example, one person complained that the oven did not automatically turn off. But the timer on this unit will not let you forget you have something in the oven. It doesn't stop beeping until you turn it off! Plus, I like to check on my food to see whether or not I need to take it out of the oven. You lose that "just a little longer" option if your oven automaticallyl turns off.

Overall, you can't beat what you get for the price. It's cooks really well (the top element goes on while baking!!) and fits even more than my 30BW. Plus, even if it does break sometime in the next year or two, Cuisinart comes with a 3 year warranty. Limited, yes, but my experience with Cuisinart customer service has been very positive and reasonable.

Comment: We are well satisfied eith the Oven. Shipping was prompt. There are two issues that we have. The oven does not sit level and the right front must be shimmed to stop the tilt. it is not severe but is annoying. We wish that the crumb tray were accessable from the front rather than the rear. Overall we are well pleased.
