Product Description
DeLonghi AD679 Airstream Digital Convection Toaster Oven
Amazon.com Review
With digital controls including a clock/timer, this 1,500-watt countertop convection oven provides a temperature range of 140 to 450 degrees F for roasting, baking, broiling, and even defrosting and dehydrating. Because it circulates hot air, the oven cooks faster and more uniformly than a conventional oven. It also toasts bread, bagels, English muffins, and sandwiches, with seven browning settings for precise control. The oven's 0.5-cubic-foot interior accommodates a 9-inch pie or six slices of toast. With two wire racks instead of the usual one, it also holds two sheets of cookies, and there's a preprogrammed cookie-baking time-and-temperature setting for one-touch convenience. Included with the oven are two aluminum cookie sheets that fit on the racks as well as an enamel baking pan with a broil insert. The interior, illuminated by a light and visible through the oven's glass door, is enamel for easy cleaning. A slide-out crumb tray also eases cleaning. The exterior is white steel with black steel and synthetic accents. The oven measures 18 inches wide, 8-1/2 inches high, and 12-1/2 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Summary: Use it all the time... 2009-10-11
Comment: I love it and use it constantly, for everything. I have had a few years now and it works as new, never had a problem with it.

Summary: Bent heating element 2006-01-15
Comment: I've had my Delonghi toaster for about 3 years and have been using it with a bent lower heating element for a least one. I bent the element back in shape a couple times, but it has gotten to the point now where I can no longer pull the crumb tray out. I hadn't realized that this was a common problem with Delonghi ovens until reading the other reviews here. Love the oven but for the price I expected it to last much longer.

Summary: So far, so good... 2005-09-08
Comment: I've been using this oven for about 7 months and am very happy with the results. I do have some problems with baking on convection and find that I have to lower the temp more than recommended to keep the tops of things from overcooking while the bottoms remain undercooked (even on the lowest shelf). I usually use it for baking items, heating after school snacks or fixing garlic bread. My son doesn't consider it a balanced meal without garlic bread. I don't do a lot of extended high heat cooking/broiling in it, therefore, the bent heating element hasn't been a problem for me so far. This oven has been a great way to fix some of our favorites in the summertime without heating up the house by turning on the big built-in ovens. And that saves money because we don't have to turn on the AC to cool things down after baking/broiling. It has a generous cooking compartment that holds most regular size cake, pie and baking/casserole dishes and pans. Very easy to operate and clean.

Summary: Burned out after 6 months 2005-06-29
Comment: My wife's parents had a DeLonghi convection oven, which has lasted them for years with heavy use. So, we thought we were making a good purchase. After six months of light usage (mostly for toasting), a strong electrical smell began to eminate from the oven. We now have to send it to a "local" service area (about 300 miles from home) and have no idea whether it can be fixed, at what cost or whether DeLonghi will simply replace it. In the meantime, we are without our convection oven for some unknown period of time. We suggest you try a more reliable brand.
