2.0 out of 5 stars Race to the Bottom, December 23, 2009

I have a similar experience to many of the reviewers here. In addition to the "can't toast on one cycle", this toaster doesn't lift the toast enough to remove it. Every time I must manually lift the lever to get the toast up that last inch so that I can reach it without burning my finger tips. The race to the bottom, seems to be a competition of the toaster (and many other appliance) manufacturers to produce the cheapest product that will not be returned immediately. For such a simple task, look at the number of 1 and 2 star rated toasters. I would happily pay more for an appliance that I was certain would perform its intended functions up to a consumers reasonable expectations. Come on manufacturers and designers, how long will it take you to get the message.

Bought this toaster at Target. Had to take the B&D model back to Wal-Mart because it was dead out of the box.

Like the styling of this toaster and so far it hasn't disappointed me with its function...

My only beef so far (and I should have realized this before I bought it) is with the digital display. My wife and I are old school and unplug the toaster when it is not in use. (can't start a fire if it isn't plugged in) Anyway, the toaster has a default setting of 5 when its plugged in... maybe okay for bread, but we most often toast english muffins and they need a setting of 7 or 8, which means we have to change the setting every time we use the toaster.

1.0 out of 5 stars P.O.S., January 20, 2009

If you don't know what P.O.S. stands for, let me fill you in.

Got this toaster as a wedding gift. Not that it was a bad gift, we were the ones who put it on the registry. Perhaps we should have looked it up before adding it. But seriously, how often should you need to look up a review on a toaster?

Got married in August, have used this toaster maybe 25 times in the last half a year. Now, it's dead. It simply stopped working. No pop, no glorious explosion that would have made the whole experience at least entertaining...dead.

Since it died I looked up the reviews simply to see if I had done something wrong. Read a similar review. In fact, my buddy was over the other day and noticed that this is in fact the same toaster his grandmother recently had and it only lasted her about a week.

So, my advice... Don't buy this P.O.S. If you haven't figured out what that stands for, then feel free to throw your money away. Too bad you can't give...Read more
