Comment: Pro's:
Bagel function is amazing. At first I had no clue what it was or how it worked, but it makes the outside of your bagel toasted while keeping the inside of the bagel nice and soft, its awesome.
Its got a lot of space to put stuff in. I can fit burger buns in there if i want a toasted bun.
Con:
Recent reviews said that this toaster would "eject my toast up in the air and onto the floor". This got me excited that I would have projectile toast and be able to catch it as it flew through the air... it is just a normal toaster in that respect though. Toast is done and it just pops up staying in the toaster.

Summary: Easy to use, but one imperfection 2010-05-14
Comment: Quite frankily, we'd decided it was impossible to get a decent toaster for less than $100. The "special" Oster we'd bought at Target four months ago for around $40 was worse than the Oster it replaced. $40 struck us as a fair price for something that simply toasted the sides of bread and bagels.
After I read the write-ups on this and its competitors, I realized I'd have to expand my toaster universe and I quickly focused in on this Dualit for a good balance between price and quality. Now that we have it, we like it. The retro Art Deco styling suits our kitchen and the easy ways you operate the toaster are a delight. It toasts very well, now that we've figured out what temp's needed for what, EXCEPT one corner on one side only of each piece browns more significantly than the rest of the toast.
One major plus: When you put in bread or a bagel, the toaster self-adjusts for width; you only adjust for heat, if at all. The bagel-lover pushes a button for one-time bagel-toasting. This way you don't discover your toast ruined by a bagel fan before you who did not re-set the toaster for Toast.

Comment: You might think that it would be a simple engineering problem: Design and manufacture a kitchen appliance which will reliably toast bread products. After an exhaustive online investigation, I finally found just such a product in this toaster. For less than $60 we have a fool-proof (so far) way to accurately toast bread products. WooHoo !!

Comment: Paid over $72 in July, 2007. toast would pop out of toaster sometimes landing on floor. Occasionally worked but quality of toast not very good. Yesterday the handle wouldn't stay down and will have to discard it and purchase new one. Certainly not worth the money! Am buying cheapest one from Farm and Fleet store.

Summary: Finally a good toaster 2008-12-28
Comment: A surprising product, it is actually better than it has to be. Sturdy construction, smooth operation, the heat controller actually works as it should, and it toasts evenly and relatively fast. A little more expensive, and well worth it, for when you get tired of replacing cheap and nasty Wall Mart junk.
