I have the standard ( more expensive) Dualit stainless as well as this newer version. The stainless model had a timer defect (that has since been repaired) and since my wife always complained of the buzzing noise of the stainless model and lack of automatic features, I recently purchased this newer version. The stainless has since been repaired and is still my favorite, but only for cosmetic and impractical reasons! This newer, less expensive (has some none-stainless areas) model is FAR superior in almost every respect: it is fully automatic, has wider slots, has a bagel feature that toasts the insides only, has a defrost feature that actually works, allows you to precisely set the desired darkness of the toast, does not have a buzzing noise, AND looks absolutely beautiful. GO FOR IT. You will love this toaster (as much as anyone can "love" a toaster.

I hesitated to write this review because I have a Dualit hand mixer that is excellent. Because of that, I was really disappointed with this product.
It has many nice features (if they worked), but overall it does not do a good job of toasting various types of bread or bagels. This product is a four slice toaster with dual controls. You can toast one or two slices independently from the other 2 slice side.
The best that it seems to work with is simple white bread. I prefer wheat bread. In order to toast the wheat bread, the toaster has to be set somewhere around 3. The result is uneven toasting with very dry and tough wheat bread.
Bagels are also difficult. Even at a setting of 1, they can burn if you don't push the pop up button before the time is up. There is a special button that is supposed to brown the cut side of the bagel, while warming the outer side of the bagel. I have followed the instructions and tried a few things on my own...Read more

I decided to trade in my very bad old toaster oven for this high tech new toaster. I have not looked back. What a difference in the level of toasting! The bread comes up evenly and lightly browned. The feel and click of the dial is wonderful too. Well worth the money.
