I had recently purchased an Oster, but returned it primarily because my wife didn't think it matched the decor of the kitchen. I have been using a Cuisinart for many years. While the Cuisinart has been an excellent appliance, it does not have quite enough cooking capacity. The Euro-pro TO1612 has a larger capacity, but lacks the convection oven. I baked a pizza in the Euro-pro to compare it with what I was getting with the Cuisinart. Despite the lack of a convection oven, the Euro-pro cooked the pizza in about the same time as the Cuisinart convection. Further, the quality of baking appears similar. Overall I am quite pleased with the purchase. It is just the right size for my needs and performance is good so far. If a major problem comes up, I can always retrieve my Cuisinart from the garage without having lost a lot of money. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By Campman "RCM" (Minnesota) - See all my reviews This review is from: Euro-Pro TO1612 Extra-Large-Capacity 6-Slice Toaster Oven (Kitchen) Just purchased the unit and so far it is great. It did smoke a bit on first cycle as was expected from the attached note saying this would occur the first time it was was used. Just followed the directions and that was that. It is a large size, big enough to cook a 12" pizza, without weighing a ton. I have made perfect toast on the middle rack and Grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.
It melted the cheese perfectly with out burning the edges of the toast as our home oven and old proctor silex TO did. Timer shuts off with a chime when set for anything over 5 minutes. The outside get hot, but Duh, it's a toaster oven with out any unwanted insulation. I plan on using it in My RV to bake, broil and grill and it fits perfectly in the small cupboard over the range. I will not be taking this one back. 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Euro-Pro TO1612 Extra-Large-Capacity 6-Slice Toaster Oven (Kitchen) As a toaster, this thing is a waste of space. Admittedly gone are the days when you buy a B&D toaster oven for 19.95 and it lasts 10 years (or until the burnt cheese buildup on the bottom reaches the heating element and you chuck it). But, there's gotta be a better option out there. It looks like some folks like this one as a backup "oven," and that I can maybe see. The problem is the timer. Twist to a certain mark one time, 30 seconds. Same mark again, 40 seconds. Know what that means for toast? Bad things, man, bad things. Relying on the timer to tell you to check your stuff? Don't. It may go off, it may not. No rhyme or reason. If you make your toast some other way and need a backup oven, go for it. If you want a toaster that makes, uh, toast... Go elsewhere! |
