Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid Pro Line 2-Slice Toaster, Pearl Metallic

I purchased this reconditioned item primarily to toast English Muffins, which I eat regularly. Strangely, I had to set it all the way up to its darkest setting (9) just to get the muffin to be somewhat browned. I would routinely have to toast more than once to get the desired level of toasting.

I suspect there was something wrong with mine, but who knows? I returned my KitchenAid and ordered a Krups toaster...I am hoping for better results.

I bought this reconditioned toaster and was very pleased to receive it in like-new condition. I have purchased other reconditioned items from Kitchenaid and found small scratches or such that were no big deal at all, but the toaster looked like mint. Of course, its (very attractive) looks would be worth nothing if it didn't toast well... so luckily, I'm happy to report that it does! I make toast for breakfast every. single. day. I was using a cheap toaster oven until now that did fairly well, but the toast wasn't adequately crisp on both sides, and would get soggy when I spread butter on. I had been reluctant to switch to a slot-style toaster (as opposed to a toaster oven) because, usually, when I'd used slot-styles at other people's homes, the bread would toast unevenly. The edges would be close to burnt while the center was barely browned. Perhaps I got very lucky, but reconditioned model I received is as-new and has worked flawlessly. This is a very solid, chunky looking item and pumps out a consistent heat that toasts perfectly every time. The lifter works well, and after a few uses you'll get a feel for what number to choose on the dial setting. Quite happy. It does what it is designed to do well, looks good and looks like it is built to last. A bit pricey, but rather that way than going through a procession of cheap units that then get chucked.
