Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid Pro Line 4-Slice Toaster, Pearl Metallic

On the first toaster 2 of the 4 slices would not toast as the element would not work. Returned and replaced. The second toaster had to be set to number 9 out of (1-9) to get the toast to even slightly brown. Called Kichenaid, useless they had no idea. Returned it. Amazon is good about the returns, but the Kitchenaid product has problems!

We have used this toaster at least once per day for the past three months. When one spends so much for a simple piece of electronic equipment, it's fair to expect superior performance. And, I almost hate to admit this, but I'm very impressed with this toaster. Maybe I'm just rationalizing extravagance? Yet, I've never had toast that tastes so good; on thicker cuts of bread, especially, the outside is perfectly crispy while the inside is pleasantly warm and soft (normally using a setting of #6).

Appearance (may not appeal to all).
Warming feature.
Separate controls (2 by 2 saves energy).
Manual lift (one can check progress of toasting without ending cycle).
Indicator light.
It's a KitchenAid (excellent customer service).

A good looking, substantial item butI had to return two of these units due to uneven heating. The only KitchenAid product that I've ever had that was sub-par. For this kind of money, they should be first rate and they're not. The company was good about the returns, however.
