This little toaster oven has earned its price in spades. The only bummer was that I thought I had ordered a larger toaster oven. However it is perfect for me and my small galley style kitchen. I have had it for several months now and have finally been putting it to the test. I have baked chicken, broiled turkey burgers, broiled pork chops, reheated pizza, made toast & baked a potato & reheated home made garlic bread. Everything turned out terrifically. It took several tries to figure out the "stay on" selection of the lower dial. My baked potato was the test dummy. I couldn't figure out how to keep it on. Finally figured it out after I cooked the potato & the chicken. Everything has cooked perfectly. This Proctor Silex toaster oven allows me(a single female) to cook smaller portions without having to use my big gas oven (which I love just as well)and wasting large amounts of energy. And this little oven gets the job done in a timely fashion. As for toast, well- that's still on...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Pay Attention to the Toast Instruction, May 10, 2011

I was ready to return this toaster because it burned toast on the bottom. Instructions say to place grill in toaster in U shape. But this brings the bread too close to the bottom burner ! Place the grill in N shape, which places bread more in the center. Better. Much better. Still doesn't toast evenly, but it's simple, convenient, and inexpensive. Fine for toasting and melting cheese on bread. One other note. Instructions say that if you toast a 2nd batch immediately after the first, set the toaster at a lighter setting. Pay attention to that. This thing toasts quickly and you can easily burn toast.

2.0 out of 5 stars Got What I Paid For, June 19, 2011
This review is from: Proctor Silex 4 slice Toaster Oven, White (Kitchen)
Both heat tubes on this toaster expired today. I've had it less than a year. It heated things reasonably well but toasting was always erratic, sometimes barely done, other times burnt on the bottom. Placement of the rack was problematic. The choice was between too close to the top burner or too close to the bottom burner. Removing the rack to replace it with the broiler pan was difficult. All in all, when I paid only $25 for this I knew I was not getting the Rolls Royce of toasters. I decided I could live with the poor toasting performance. But I would have thought it would last more than 8 or 9 months. Very disappointed in what used to be a good brand.
