Kalorik TO-20621 Aqua 850-Watt 2-Slice Stainless-Steel Toaster with Glass Panels

Having laid my Russell-Hobbs glass sided toaster to rest, I searched long and hard for a replacement. This is the closest in design, and actually, it functions better than the R-H, which has been discontinued. Toasting is even, and even at lower toasting settings, the toast is "crisp." It looks boxier than it actually is. It is easy to clean and solid, not tinny, like some of the other toasters on the market. It has NO plastic pieces either.

Ordered this toaster, based upon the high rating from Cooks Illustrated.

Now, I haven't done any research about toasters. Our old Krups broke after 15 years of daily use and we needed a replacement quickly.

If this is the best out there; the others must be really terrible.

Compared to my old toaster; this one seems to get a lot hotter on the outside. Yes, it has extra glass front and back, but not on the sides, which get very very hot.
The stainless steel might not be your best option if you're picky about fingerprints all over your appliances. You might want to pick a black or a white color toaster in that case.

The cord can be wound around little tags on the bottom; something my old toaster had too, only the pins seem a bit too short to really hold the cord in place.

I got this toaster a month ago for christmas. The design is nice and durable. The steel interface, does not pick fingerprint marks easily, which is good. The sides are cool to touch courtasy of the glass panels mounted on them. The slot size is just right to fit the slices. The only downside is that it does not toast both sides evenly. It is more obvious on the lower settings as one side is slightly toasted and the other is "toasted". On higher settings however, it's not that noticable.
