Here's a quick overall scoring breakdown for this toaster: Appearance: 10/10 - This thing looks great, there's no disputing that. Features: 3/10 - Although it does feature a visual LCD readout and various modes such as defrost, reheat, and "bagel," the annoying audible ending-beep is a real annoyance (and can't be turned off or turned down). Toasting Ability: 1/10 - As demonstrated in the video (look at the LCD readout at the time the first toaster finishes), I have time (with the G.E. two slice Toaster) to cook two individual slices two times in the time it takes the KitchenAid four slice toaster to get done. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of a four slice toaster. And the end product is questionably worse (drier) in the end...Read more 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: KitchenAid Digital 4-Slice Toaster, KMT422OB: Contour Silver For crying out loud...this "toaster" - which is more like a tanning bed for bread - is just ridiculous. It doesn't toast both sides evenly at all, and though they were thoughtful enough to build-in an alarm clock to wake you once your toast was finally "done", this is just one more gadget that someone thought was a good idea that was over-thought.
Look, just TOAST BREAD, okay? We don't need to marvel at how much crap you can add to a simple kitchen appliance. Really, do NOT buy this toaster. Just don't. I swear, you'll wish you had taosted your bread with a bic lighter instead. That would be faster, and more thorough. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: KitchenAid KMT422OB 4-Slice Toaster, Onyx Black (Kitchen) This product had very little reviews when I bought it. However, let me say that I have been thoroughly impressed with it. No wierd burning smells like on other cheaper toasters, no faults seen yet. It was just what I wanted, a 4 slice, manual push down, options for bagel, defrost, reheat, cancel, and a reliable stainless steel shell with black siding to match the rest of my black appliances. As a bonus it has a digital display, a great range of fine tuning for temp, toasts really even, crumb tray, plus a nice double beep to let you know your toast is finished(useful if your in the other room). On thing to note at first, you have to wait until the display turns on after you press down the toast to release the lever, or it will pop back up. This is only if you're used to a fully manual older toaster that you could slap the lever down and it would hold. After a couple uses it becomes second nature. great toaster you'll love it |
