Not because it broke or anything of that nature. It sucks because of the details, and when you decide to spend this much on a toaster, it seems to reason, you're interested in the details.
I have two primary issues with this machine: 1) Its not possible to turn off just one side. I generally prefer not to toast both sides of a sliced bagel or English muffin. 2) The 1" slots. This might initially seem like a good idea; it is one of the features that initially drew me in. But a crucial flaw lies with the implementation of these wide slots. There is not a self-adjusting, centering carrier for the bread; not a carrier of any kind. It's just a big void. So if you insert a normal slice of bread it has to lean to one side or the other resulting in, of course, uneven toasting; absolutely unforgiveable in a toaster of this expense. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: KitchenAid KPTT780NP Pro Line 2-Slice Toaster, Nickel Pearl (Kitchen) Got tired of burned toast on the low settings with my old toasters so paid a little extra and this one is worth the price. This is my first toaster ever where the medium setting gives medium toasting. I really like that the toast doesn't pop up automatically but when I want. The lift lever works great. Seems to work fast enough but I haven't timed it. Just so happy that it works right every time and I don't have to throw away burned bread and start over hoping to get lucky. By Onlymintstuff (Illinois) - See all my reviews This review is from: KitchenAid KPTT780NP Pro Line 2-Slice Toaster, Nickel Pearl (Kitchen) We received this as a gift and we really appreciate the "bulk" of this toaster. We plugged it in and found that the toaster timer does not work properly. Seems it times out at 30 seconds no matter how high we twist the 1-9 timer. We contacted Kitchenaid for assistance and rather than fix it, they replaced it with the newest model. We really like the old model and we can use it as long as we want to continue to restart the timer every 30 seconds. Just love the design of this and I wish they hadn't discontinued it. Great customer service from Kitchenaid and we just love their products. Don't look at this review as negative. Kitchenaid makes some of the best products on the market and the pro line is one of the best. Just got a lemon this time but Kitchenaid customer service stood behind their product as expected. |
