Comment: I don't know why I've put up with this toaster for so long. I purchased it about a year or so ago and it has never done a good job of "toasting." I only use whole wheat bread or bagels, and this toaster was evidently not made to properly toast them. I have to put bread on the #9 frozen setting twice each time to get it to the right color, turning the slices over each time to brown them more-or-less evenly.
For many years I had a Rowenta that did a super job, but it finally died. On my recommendation, my daughter purchased a Rowenta, but she tells me it browns unevenly.
They don't make 'em like the used to! (sigh)
