Let's get one thing out of the way immediately - this is the second most expensive toaster in the universe. You don't even want to know what the most expensive toaster costs. So when you buy one of these and put it in your kitchen counter you are making a statement, not just toasting bread. Unfortunately, that statement is that you are a compulsive perfectionist. Some people may consider you slightly insane.
That being said, this toaster is build like a rock and has 4 slots wide enough for a bagel slice. The toast switches work independendly of the slice lifts so you can lift the lever, examine the slice, and lower it back in without resetting the timer. The crumb trays are capacious, and yes, it is retro cool. The guarantee is incredible - if it breaks, they replace it.
Frankly, I love it, but I am a compulsive, and I just redid my kitchen. In the massive cash flow that occasioned the toaster didn't seem like a whole lot. Especially for something that...Read more

it's faultless. nearly bought a dualit but fortunately the kitchenaid was on the same display shelf and a two minute comparison - very handy having them side by side - showed the ka to be heftier, solider, in fact the dualit, which i'd always thought to be the rolls royce of toasters, came across as flimsy. this probably sounds plain sad, but it's just such a nice piece of equipment to look at and run ones hand over. oh, it makes great toast too.
