This review is from: Krups FBC213 - 1600 Watts 6 Slice Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking (Black)
Krups toaster/convection oven model 571509 REF:FBC213/4GO.
Toasted a piece of bread for 3 y.o. son.
I burned my arm not realizing at first that it didn't shut off, the upper elements were still on. None of the controls would operate. I had to unplug it. I hoped that unplugging it would `re-set' it. After about 2 min. I plugged it back in, but it was still on. Next day, tried again, same thing. We have small children, it could have burned the place down!
After some research I discovered this is an on-going problem with Krups. This is not a user error, this is a MAJOR defect! Why haven't these been recalled?!

After owning a small Panasonic toaster oven for 10 or so years, we decided to upgrade to the larger and considerably more expensive Krups. From Dec 2007 until Jan 2012, we were pleased with our decision. The two of us used it mainly for breakfast toast 3-4 days a week. It saw only occasional use as an oven. Then early one 5am morning in Jan 2012, I found the controls dead. Later that day, I noticed the display was back on and it worked fine. A few days later, again 5am, same thing. Due to setback thermostats, the house is cool that time of morning. On a hunch, I warmed the Krups with a small cube space heater. In less than a minute, it came back to life. To those familiar with high tech, this is typical of a failed circuit board and/or its components. Well out of warranty, I pulled the two boards myself hoping I could make a visual diagnosis and repair. No such luck. With new boards approaching the price of a new oven, a repair didn't make cents. Obviously, shipping it...Read more

I don't personally own this oven. However, my parents have owned one for years. They are on their second one, both lasting for several years. They have experienced none of the problems described by the other reviewer. The unit is better insulated than most toaster ovens and less hot to the touch on the outside. It works excellently as a counter-top oven for baking chicken, casseroles, etc for two people without heating the house with the large oven - or causing the energy cost of the large oven. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I don't actually own it to check out all the features. However, I know my parents use it regularly as a toaster, as well as an oven. I personally chose a different toaster oven when I bought one several years ago because this one is quite large and takes a lot of space. Next time, I plan to buy this Krups.
