Product Description
Krups FBC4 Convection Toaster Oven provides optimal results due to its "quartz cycling technology" with dual alternating 1600 watt top and bottom heating elements. The convection baking feature provides a second method of heating combined with radiant heating provided by the quartz tubes. Pre-programmed settings achieve perfect results at the touch of a button and automatically circulates power and temperature based on the selection.
Summary: Lousy the first time, lousy the second time. 2007-01-18
Comment: The Krups FBC4 is a really beautiful toaster oven that is very elegant on any counter. But that means squat if it doesn't work. In December of 2005, I purchased my first FBC4 and it promptly stopped working entirely after 3 days. I returned it to Williams-Sonoma and exchanged it for another one. Now it is January 2007, just 14 months after it came into my home. Once again, it has stopped working entirely. Since I've had it 14 months, the warranty has expired (warranty is only 12 months). Last night I smelled some faint burning plastic when toasting, and I can only assume that the heating element blew. $200 is far too expensive for a toaster that has only 1 year of life in it. I will never buy a Krups toaster again. P.S. I'm also having all sorts of trouble with my Krups coffeemaker.

Summary: DANGER - DO NOT BUY THIS OVEN! HAZARD 2006-12-17
Comment: I purchased this toaster oven about a month ago. Until today I had only been using it to toast bread as I haven't had much time to cook. I decided to bake some frozen fries in it. Baked them at 350 for 20 minutes. They tasted like they needed a couple of more minutes so I put them back in for 5 more minutes. However, a couple of minutes after walking away I heard a a loud POP noise and flying glass hitting the floor and counters. I look and the toaster was still on with broken glass everywhere including half still on the toaster.
For the month I used it I always felt like it was too hot and there was too much steam coming from it but I had never owned a convection oven before so I thought they just run hotter than a regular toaster. My intial instincts were right it was getting too hot. I am so very lucky that my 4 year old daughter wasn't in the room when this happend or she would have had been seriously injured. FYI my model is FBC4. I have reported this dangerous item to Krups and Jcpenny where I purchased it at.
