Proctor-Silex 22452 Cool-Touch 2-Slice Toaster, Black

This toaster is a Consumers Reports Best Buy. It is cheap. The only thing about it that is special is that the toast usually is evenly toasted. It takes forever and one can get their fingers burned pulling toast out if they are not careful because toast doesn't stay popped up when it is finished. Can't toast sourdough or large slices and it is uneven on crusts. Toasting any bread that is not the standard loaf has to be done in a toaster oven but one never gets toast in a toaster oven that is evenly toasted.

We haven't had a toaster in our home for over 2 years. The toaster oven took too long to toast and seemed wasteful in the process, so I decided to purchase a toaster. After reading reviews on this Proctor-Silex, I went for it.

I was hopeful, but became doubtful when I examined the toaster. The wires that glow were thin (remember, I hadn't dealt with toasters for over 2 years--I remember the wires being not so thin), which seemed unusual, and, when I put in the first two slices of bread, the wires on the inside seemed not to glow as brightly as those on the outside, which didn't seem right or promising. However, when the toasted bread popped out, to my surprise the bread was EVENLY toasted. What more could one want out of a toaster? Subsequent tries all gave the same results--evenly toasted bread. The time taken to toast was good, but keep in mind that my comparison is to a toaster oven, which is slow.

This is a very nice toaster,that works very well.This model received good ratings from a major consumer magazine...The color of the toaster is jet black,with a retro look...If the color doesnt math your decor,the identical unit is available in kichen white model number 22450,for the same price...A solid value 4 star rated...Thank you Stewart L.
