Summary: RIVAL 20 QUART ROASTER OVEN 2008-02-05
Comment: I AM USING MY RIVAL 20 QUART ROAST OVEN TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME. I AM MAKING HAM, GREEN BEANS AND POTATOES. EVERYTHING TASTES WONDERFUL AND IS DONE TO PERFECTION. I TOOK TIME YESTERDAY TO PREHEAT MY OVEN SO THAT THERE WOULD BE NO SMELL TODAY. I ADDED WATER TO THE PAN AND PLUGGED IT IN ON OUR ENCLOSED FRONT PORCH. IT DID SMOKE AND HAD SOME ODOR YESTERDAY, HOWEVER TODAY WHEN I STARTED MY ROASTING THERE WAS NO ORDOR AT ALL. I LOVE MY ROASTER AND LOOK FORWARD TO USING IT OFTEN.

Summary: Fab Roaster!!! 2007-11-22
Comment: I've had my Rival 20 quart roaster for 3 or 4 years and it is great! I purchased it originally to free up my oven during the holidays. This product performs like a champion; the cooking well is cavernous. I've baked a turkey as large and 20 pounds in my Rival Electric Roaster. The temperature control is a simple to use, and I might add, very accurate dial. It has a red "pilot light" over the dial that lets you know when the oven is cycling on and off or when it is preheated just like a full size range oven. The afore mentioned odor in a previous review is from the manufacturing process; the instructions explain this and also explain that you need turn it on for about 30 minutes empty and burn that off, let it cool and then you may use it for cooking. I suppose some people don't care to read instructions or follow instructions. This product is easy to clean, just fill the pan with soapy water and let it soak a while and all of the baked on stuff will wipe right away! I now live in Dallas and the summers here are very warm and I use this as a mini oven in the summer to keep from heating the kitchen up when I want to bake something. If you buy this roaster oven you will not regret it!!!!

Summary: Great for those hot days when you don't want to cook... 2003-01-05
Comment: I _love_ this roaster. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about buying it - after all I have a stove with an oven, how would this make my life better? Here's how - it has an adjustable temperature control on the outside, it's easy to clean up after, it takes up very little room and most important in hot humid places such as Baltimore, it doesn't heat up your kitchen in the summer. So you can roast a chicken for chicken sandwiches or even chicken Ceasar salad without heating up the whole house. You can roast your beef with some potatoes, carrots and celery. You can even make a family favorite, meatloaf, and the rack ensures the meatloaf isn't sitting in it's own fat. Because you can put this roaster on your counter, you don't hurt your back by trying to put a roaster in the oven. Of course, I use this pan frequently - I used it Thanksgiving to roast the ham, freeing the oven for the turkey and the other fixings, for Christmas for the turkey breast and right now I have a whole chicken in it for tonight's dinner. That leaves my oven free for rolls and dressing and maybe a cake - no staggering the cooking/baking with this handy tool. I did detect a slight odor upon first use, but you are warned about it in the instruction manual. It was _not_ overpowering and did not cause any distress because I was expecting it. I'm only addressing this issue because somebody else mentioned it. Easy to clean up, easy to use - I recommend this product highly, especially if you're cooking for a family or if you entertain a lot - it makes cooking so much easier.

Summary: ...and it's so versatile! 2002-12-19
Comment: Last year one of my colleagues brought in his roaster oven for us to use for our annual Thanksgiving potluck . . . . the turkey turned out moist and delicious. He also talked about all of the other ways he uses it for other than turkey . . . I put this on my wish list and love my Rival Roaster Oven! The turkey turns out wonderful . . . . . this year's wish list includes the buffet server inserts so that once the turkey is done, we can use the roaster to keep the other foods warm! Regarding the bad review, the consumer says that the roaster that smelled had been used . . . . the fact that there were problems with it don't seem to be the fault of the manufacturer . . . .
