Straightforward to use and sleek in appearance, this Rival electric roaster lets you cook a 20-pound turkey or 50 servings of chili without depending on an oven. The unit’s dial-controlled temperature settings range from 150 to 450 degrees F, and its stainless-steel body is spacious and sturdy. The interior pan, removable for easy serving and cleanup, is enamel-coated steel, and a mirror-finish steel rack is included for roasts, hams, and fowl. A view window on the lid lets you track cooking progress, but is conservatively sized to maintain internal heat and moisture. Other helpful structural features include cool-touch handles, a power-indicator light, skid-resistant rubber feet, and a lid rest. The exterior finish is brushed steel, handsomely offset by the black accents. Measured handle to handle with its lid on, the roaster stands 24 by 15-1/2 by 13 inches. Rival recommends washing all pieces by hand, and the base is not submersible. The unit includes a booklet of starter recipes with the instructions. --Emily Bedard

Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about buying it - after all I have a stove with an oven, how would this make my life better?Here's how - it has an adjustable temperature control on the outside, it's easy to clean up after, it takes up very little room and most important in hot humid places such as Baltimore, it doesn't heat up your kitchen in the summer. So you can roast a chicken for chicken sandwiches or even chicken Ceasar salad without heating up the whole house. You can roast your beef with some potatoes, carrots and celery. You can even make a family favorite, meatloaf, and the rack ensures the meatloaf isn't sitting in it's own fat. Because you can put this roaster on your counter, you don't hurt your back by trying to put a roaster in the oven. My turkey turned out delicious in this roaster. It cooked in the right amount of time, it was convenient to have the lid rest on the side when checking the turkey and removing broth for my gravy and the clean up was amazing. The rack was also a plus - the turkey was so easy to remove from the roaster. I didnt decide to write a review until I read the previous one I just read about the person who bought them as gifts and the bad odor and the one that didnt work. He also talked about all of the other ways he uses it for other than turkey . . . I put this on my wish list and love my Rival Roaster Oven! The turkey turns out wonderful . . . . . this year's wish list includes the buffet server inserts so that once the turkey is done, we can use the roaster to keep the other foods warm!Regarding the bad review, the consumer says that the roaster that smelled had been used . . . . the fact that there were problems with it don't seem to be the fault of the manufacturer . . . . |
