T-Fal OT8065002 Avante Elite Toaster Oven

I've had the Avante Elite Toaster Oven for about 6 months now and have used it almost every day since I bought it. I originally bought it thinking I'd mainly use it for toast but after experimenting with different items I found that it can serve as a pretty adequate oven/stove top. I'm far from a gourmet chef so this review is from the perspective of someone who can follow a recipe to make a tasty treat but who has never broasted or flambayed and who doesn't yet know what parboiled means.

As a toaster: Just about excellent. It does the "Toast" function very well. Toast was just the right amount of crunchy. The "Toast" setting also adjusts its toasting time pretty accurately so that if the oven is still hot from having used it to cook something, it will set itself to toast for less time. However I have noticed that if I've used the oven on the "Broil" setting (which gets it VERY hot) I need to remove the items from the oven a little earlier than when it actually...Read more

This item (OT806000) does NOT have a "convection feature," contrary to the product listing here. I hate to score a product without having used it, but I wanted people to know, so I gave it a 3 as a sort of "average." The reason I'm writing a review at all is because Amazon has been so sloppy and confusing in its listing of these T-Fal toaster-oven products. I wanted to buy one, but I wanted to get the correct model, and Amazon was no help at all. Finally I had to call T-Fal customer service to sort it out. According to T-Fal, this model has a stainless steel lid for the warmer, while newer ones have a glass cover. I doubt I would care about that difference, personally. But now you know. T-Fal also told me that this model, the one without convection, also does not have a clock display. It has a cooking timer, but NOT a clock. Other than that, it is identical to the convection model. I have had mine for two months already and I love it. Its alot better then a little toaster. You don't have to wrestle to get a stuck bagel out of it.Its great for chicken breasts ,baking cakes. apple crisp etc. Its good for alot of things has 4 functions. warm, toast. bake and broil. I have made alot of things in it and each time they come out wonderful.
