It works, but I'd hate to guarantee that I can cook 20 pieces of toast in one morning. It is not heavy duty at all. In fact it is light duty, mostly plastic, and unique because of Jesus on it. Seems they skimped on metal in many areas because they had another selling point. The first one I got was sent back because the handle would not stay down. The replacement one works, but it is very light and I expect it to actually shatter the first time it gets bumped off the counter. I gave it 3 stars because as long as it doesn't get bumped it ought to be fine on the counter and work for a long time.

This toaster is NOT just a gag gift. It is a working toaster which just happens to imprint a stylized picture of Jesus. There are instructions enclosed with it recommending to cycle it without toast initially, I suppose to get rid of funny odors from manufacture. Also one should plan on having to cycle and adjust it a couple of times with their toast before they get the color right, as with any toaster. The primary control is an analog dial and I ignore the buttons. (I have no idea why manufacturers insist on complicating common-use appliances with lots of buttons.)

I'd love it if they would also make them for world religious figures, particularly The Buddha, and members of the Hindu pantheon, but realize there's probably not so much of a market for such icons in the US. There might however be markets for other figures such as Einstein or Elvis, so the makers should consider them. This toaster is a piece of junk. Made of cheap plastic and the first time I used it it almost started a fire. A total waste of money.
