Please read my web page before purchasing this item, at www.selectsmart.com/explodingtoastmaster.html Other people have reported fires and the exploding glass door on several similar Toastmaster models with the removable insert.

This review is from: TOASTER OVEN BROILER 4SL Based upon reviews and having owned this brand before I would recommend it. Other models have a toast button - something this one lacks and is handy for just toasting a few slices of bread or such. The timer has to be turned with it in toast mode. Others have commented that the glass door can shatter - I've used this unit for several months and haven't had any problems. In my years of experience they make overly dry and unevenly prepared toast, and heat settings are difficult to control. I purchased this toaster oven after our 5-yr old Krups caught on fire, and that relationship w/Krups (a brand that I once respected whilst living in Germany)was quickly over.
I have owned this Toastmaster model, purchased at Target, for about four years, and use it mostly (from an energy-saving standpoint) for baking potatoes and reheating pizza, making hot sandwiches, and small plates of leftovers. That's about it. The toast and bagel experience has been discouraging. For that task, I bought a Kitchen Aid dedicated toaster, which is superb. Pros about this model: Not many: Heats quickly, the removable liner is great for clean-up in the sink and dishwasher, and it is good looking on the counter w/its Euro-modern styling.
