Product Description
Toastmaster 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven - The Toastmaster Convection Toaster Oven is perfect for big families. It has a 6-slice capacity and full-range temperature control with function settings for Bake, Broil, Toast, Warm and Convection. 60-minute timer. Non-stick interior. Slide out crumb tray. Imported. UL Listed. (COV760BFP)
I purchased this toaster oven in April, 2007. There are only two adults in this household and we use the toaster oven in the mornings only. Within three months, the timer knob broke off and for the past two months I have been trying to obtain a new knob form the company: Salton. The responses I have received are: (1) The knob is out of stock and we do not know when it will come in since it is coming from China; (2) The knob has already been requested from the overseas manufacturer and we hope to have the shipment in soon; and (3) Unfortunately, this part is still on back order status. We apologize for the delay. The company states that one of the reasons for their "strong market position" is their "outsourcing strategy". I do challenge that statement. If you do not mind using pliers to turn on this machine and unplugging it after every use (since you will not know if it is really off), then this is the product for you.

I'm currently shopping for replacement knobs for this item. We use this oven occasionally to bake small items like chicken breast, small loaves of bread, and to roast peppers. We have a larger oven and a separate toaster that we use for other items. My point is that we do not overuse the convection oven, we never use the toaster; we are a small 2 adult household. However, the super cheap plastic knobs broke rather quickly. I'm not sure replacing them is worth the trouble. If the new ones are like the old ones, they will be cheap plastic that becomes brittle and cracks off. The UP side of this oven is that it saves a lot of energy compared to firing up the big oven, and it cooks relatively fast and very evenly. We have a similar (but more XPNSV fancy brand name) convection oven that we are using while I continue my search for replacement knobs. It does not cook as evenly as this one and it does not shut itself off automatically when the timer is finished.
