Summary: terrible value 2008-11-06
Comment: We only used this about 4 times before the music started dying about 3/4 of the way through the song. It quit completely after approximately 20 uses. (nice way to disappoint the kids). The face doesn't print clearly enough to tell that it's Mickey-- you can barely tell it's a face. Do NOT put a Poptart in there! Because of the method used to imprint the face, it squeezes the food--Poptarts get stuck, broken and then fall through to the bottom. What a mess. The final straw was when one of the knobs broke off the front. We've had our toaster for only 1 1/2 yr. and use it 1-2x/wk = not enough to warrant breakdown already. It's very cute, but a lot of money for a showpiece that takes up that much counter space.

Summary: Music feature died 2008-04-23
Comment: The toaster is a nice work of art and does a decent job of toasting, but the music died after about a year and the slots are not quite wide enough (the long way) for my favoite bread even though I can aqueeze the bread in and it pops up OK. We still love it.

Summary: Mickey toaster 2007-08-07
Comment: The toast has to be a little dark to see the image of Mickey, but is does work great and is fun. We did have a pop tart fall inside which took time to clean out.

Summary: DON'T BUY THIS 2007-03-06
Comment: We bought this toaster for our kitchen as we are going with a Mickey theme. As with the other comments seen here, the music quit playing and it doesn't toast thoroughly. My girlfriend is disgusted as we mainly bought this item for the music. It is definitely pretty looking but, it doesn't matter when it doesn't perform. Try to contact Villaware with the problem...you can't get a hold of anyone and no one will call you back. As for us, we will not purchase this brand again. Two thumbs down on this item.

Summary: Poor quality product 2006-11-02
Comment: I have gone through 2 of these toasters. The first one stopped playing the Mickey Mouse tune after about 3 months of use and the second one after about a year and a half. Both of them would toast one side of the bread, but barely darken the other, so the Mickey face would only show up on one side, and the toast of course was not evenly cooked. A couple of weeks after the 2nd toaster stopped playing the tune, one side of the toaster stopped working entirely.
The concept for these appliances is great and they are really a lot of fun at first, but unfortunately Villaware is simply not selling a sound product. My second toaster died after the warranty had expired, so I unscrewed the case in order to see if I could fix it. The internals are composed of exposed circuitry rather than longer lasting mechanical components, so any moisture or static electricity will likely damage the toaster, and the parts are extremely difficult to replace as they are all permanently soldered together. Additionally, Villaware doesn't sell replacement parts, so even if you are handy with electronics you will still not be able to fix it.
These toasters feel sturdy and look as if they are of good quality on the outside, but when you open one up you will see that they actually mount weights on the inside of the toaster to give it a heavy feeling, and are built with very flimsy materials.
