4.0 out of 5 stars Stylish but limited use-please see addendum, November 25, 2008

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This oven is aesthetically pleasing but takes up a lot of counter space. It seems a lot of thought went into the design ,for example the nice weight cooking pan has a separate lift bracket with stay cool handles. However, if the top part were just 2 inches taller it would have more functional use. I cooked Ore-Ida oven fries in it on the supplied non-stick pan and they were quickly cooked perfectly with an enhanced potato taste. Then later I cooked manicotti in a small and shallow rectangle glass Pyrex dish. Part of one of the top elements had burned melted cheese on it. Both items cooked much quicker than if I had used my regular sized convection oven or my convection microwave oven since no warm up period was required. However, it seems everything has to be place only on the cooking pan which is about the size of a medium frozen pizza. This greatly limits the everyday use of this oven. I had hoped since my toaster-oven recently died that this item would take it's place, but that is...Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
**After having this oven for a couple of days, I decided that I needed to rewrite my review, as I found out more information**

As I'm writing this, there's not really a lot of information listed on Amazon which describes exactly what this item is supposed to do. . . .so I would like to "enlighten" those who are interested in making a purchase.

In my opinion, this is really more of a "snack" / "pizza" / "reheat" sort of item. . . but. . . you can also bake cookies. This is NOT a toaster oven. If you want to make toast, then you're better off using either a toaster, or a toaster oven. But most toaster ovens can't bake a 12" pizza, and this one can! I've already tried it, and it's delicious!

Let's start at the top. First of all, as you're looking at the front, the "top" or "lid" is hinged on the back. There are grips on both sides in the front, so you can easily lift the lid.

Heating coils are located at the back of the...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Faster than a toaster oven - no more mushy microwave meals, December 21, 2009

This review is from: West Bend 76026 High Speed Baking QuikServe Oven, Black/Silver (Kitchen)
I have toasted, english muffins , thick-cut fruit nut loaf, buns; made fries, chicken strips, stuffed mushrooms, pizza, omelets (in shallow glass dish) & salmon filets. Brussel sprouts and butternut squash next...

I am enjoying this appliance very much. It is easy to clean and more versatile than anything else that i looked at. My toaster is now in the cupboard and I don't miss it. I thought that this would be used now and then as others have written, but I have yet to put it away. It does use a lot of counter space but I find it to be worth while.

It creates a convection without the noisy fan. Anything too thick to cook in here, I would probably grill or bake anyways. Just about everything I put in it tastes better than from a microwave. Great design and solidly made. I snatched it up at a great price of $69.99 including free shipping.
